Learning from the trenches – How to reduce cost and risk when migrating to extension

Date: Wednesday, May 8, 2019| From: 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM | Room: Charleston F

During the last year, ForNAV has transformed their products from NAV OnPrem to Business Central Extension OnPrem and Cloud, and has helped partners to do the same. In the process, we have learned a lot about what to do and what not to when moving from txt to al, and what to do about artifacts such as .net components, menu suites, and CaptionML when migrating. This session walks you through our experience and conclusions about what to do. It includes the following: When and why to migrate – developing on the bleeding edge or not?, Process – what to refactor before or after the conversion to al., What to expect after the conversion to al – what will work?, What to do with .net components: Using .net on Business Central OnPrem., Choosing an alternative to .net when moving to Business Central Cloud (built-in al-libraries, Azure Functions, Azure App’s, etc.)., What to do with CaptionML?, Best practices when working with al in Visual Studio code.
