OData, SOAP Services, OData v4, the “standard” API. There are multiple options available when it comes to accessing customer data in Business Central. How do you determine which one you use? What are the differences? Do you need to avoid some options? In this session we will walk through the different APIs and web services available for Business Central. We’ll look at how to set up each web service or API type, the differences between them, and what benefits each have. We’ll dive in and show real examples of calling the services directly through code, using a tool such as postman for testing, and incorporating third-party apps that can leverage those services to get data in and out of Business Central.
Name: Chris Hanson
Company name: eOne Solutions
Job title: SmartConnect Product Manager
Bio: I have been part of the eOne team for the last 8+ years, and became a part of the user group communities soon after joining the team. Within eOne, I worked through support, development, consulting and sales teams before ending up in a partner and solution focused role. I focus mainly on positioning and designing integration solutions that solve client needs - mainly using our integration platform SmartConnect. Outside of work, I enjoy a variety of activities with my wife and 2 kids. Hiking, biking, road trips, and just basic trips to the park take up most of my free time. I also love to golf, although I don't get out as often as I'd like. I am a huge football fan - SKOL Vikings! And have way too many fantasy football teams.
